People and Places In the Pontburn Valley
On this page we aim to insert the first of many maps, some simple map tools (mostly through links to other websites eg Google Earth, Geocities, MS Autoroute Finder etc) and an explanation. As always we want our members to contribute with what they know. In the meanwhile, look over to the menu over to the left under "People and Places" to see what we're gathering together so far
There are many places in the Pontburn Valley that merit further research. Some are already listed as sites of special interest but many, especially relating to our relatively recent heritage, are known only to our Local History Societies and some particularly expert, local enthusiasts. Indeed some places remain undiscovered.
We believe that many people that live in and around these places might be able to inform us with what they may know but consider either unimportant or of no significance save to themselves. By doing this, we believe that we can put together historical information that helps to guide our present and shape our future.
